PhysCon 2019, held November 14-16 in Providence, RI, was the largest gathering of undergraduate physics students in the United States! Registrants were able to select from among several tours offered, including a visit to Optikos, where senior staff shared their paths from academia to a career in industry at Optikos. Our student visitors then split into groups and rotated among three demonstrations offered by Optikos engineers, where they were able to see specific projects in action–including a robotic optical measurement system, the production of large lens assemblies used in aerial photography, and the varied image quality measurement projects happening in our IQ Lab. We appreciated the energy and curiosity they brought–many thanks to the American Institute of Physics and Sigma Pi Sigma for inviting Optikos to be a host site for this exciting event!
