On its 70th anniversary, Stephen D. Fantone, Optikos CEO and OSA 2020 President paid tribute to the impressive group of organizing members of the local OSA section, all of whom Dr. Fantone had known, including Dr. Edwin Land, with whom he had worked at Polaroid.
On May 5, 1949, Dr. Land gave the first section talk entitled “A Color Translating Ultraviolet Microscope”–the paper on which it was based was published that April in Science magazine.
Hillary Balonek, Optikos IQ Lab Manager, introduced her husband, speaker Greg Balonek, who led an engaging talk with interactive demos and the opportunity for each attendee to make a hologram to take home.
